I finally finished the sound test for the game. I got titles in for the songs, an index, and nice VU-meters. I think That's enough for a day. :P

Shops and Inns and Towns, Oh My!

Hey all, I'm still developing my fan game. I wasted about a week setting up my forum, which, by the way, is here. It's an MMORPG, and I'm game testing. There's staff positions open too, so contact me if you're interested.

Update for Bonus Stars:
Because grabbing them in level was very annotying, there's a star shop. I'll let you know that the red coins are still involved though. Think blue coins in Super Mario Sunshine.

Badge Book:
I may change it to a sticker book. You get these badges by completing some events in game, such as reaching 999 coins, or using an item a certain amount of time. Some unlock new features on the menu (like a sound test). You can view the book from the Badge Book selection on the menu.

Shops, Inns, Towns, and NPCs:
Some out-of-the-way shops and inns can be found on the map. However, they are in found in town levels. Town levels are just normal towns. There's no time limit or enemys (above ground at least) so feel free to explore. NPC's can be triggered by hitting "Z".

An RPG of Epic Proportions

I'm making a Super Mario RPG site (yes, an acctual RPG). I'm too tired right now to elaborate. :P All I can say is that it's underway.

I'd Like to See the Menu

Well, it's time for another tweak in the RPG engine: menus. I'm still working out the details, but it looks like I'll need a 1 dimensional array. This will allow for an easy grid setup, and a limit to the inventory size (HA HA!).
Also, I'm still messing with my stat choices. I'm think about these stats: Jump (height), speed (running or takoff), skill (for power-ups), and luck (for item freebies). I'm still tossing ideas around until I nail something down (hopefully not my hand).

The Classics



So, Bonus world is slowly being beaten into existance. So far I've put in classic world 1-1 and 1-2 from SMB1. They're lacking their bonus pipes due to my lazyness at the moment. Next off I'm going to attempt "The Inner Maze" from the SMA4 e-Reader levels. This level is so epic. Hidden doors, P-switches, wraparound rooms, invisible blocks for Tanooki Mario (I've implemented those suckers), blocks only breakable by hammers and Tanooki Mario's statue. Simply, the most brilliant trap ever created. As for my own levels, Tutorial World 2 is under construction. It's teaching about veggies, and the Subcon enemies. The mini boss will Gi-Guy, a giant Shy Guy (lol no wai :U). I'll post some screens in a bit.

Seeing Stars

Well, my lovely idea of adding in bonus stars is starting to bite me in the butt. I need to find some way of checking that a star has already been collected. I think making a counter for every star in the game is the easiest choice rigtht now. On another note, I have succesfully added in Bonus World. Filling it with star gates and new secrets is my next step.
